untitled proxy

When the assignment goes offline

Leave room for the work.

A translator gets a pericope assignment and drops off the grid for weeks. They package every reference — images and source audio — onto one cheap phone. But that same phone has to hold their oral drafts and revisions, recorded in the field. Every megabyte spent on resources is a megabyte they can't record into. So the resources have to be small.

Actual proxy output, sized for a phone screen (s=400, WebP):

Illustration figures are measured live from the proxy across three real Aquifer images (landscape, object, map — different pericopes) — raw averages ≈ 2.9 MB → ≈ 50 KB each at a phone-screen size, a ~60× cut). Audio figures are estimates — ≈3 min of reference audio per pericope, 192 kbps source → ~32 kbps Opus — pending a real sample to measure. "Room to record" converts free space at the selected recording rate (Compressed ≈ 60 MB/hr, Hi-fi WAV ≈ 300 MB/hr).
